What freeloader.com games will and will not work with Vista is largely ad-hock and heavily dependant on the hardware configuration of your particular PC.

Fear not though as Windows Vista has a very useful tool you can use to get any freeloader game running under Microsoft's new OS.

Called program compatibly wizard, it can be found by heading to Start, selecting Control Panel, (ensure you are in 'Control Pannel Home'), then Programs and selecting "Use an older program with this version of Windows". You'll find this in the Programs and Features section.

It's useful to note that you can use the compatibly wizard to make any problematic freeloader installer work as well using it with a game causing you problems post installation.

Once you've started the wizard and selected the freeloader.com game you want to install or a game you have previously installed, you get to choose which OS's compatibility mode you want the game or installer to run under. It is suggested that you select XP SP2.

Once you have selected the compatibility mode run that program, with a bit of luck everything should spring into action. After running the program, the wizard will check to see if it ran successfully. You can now choose between three options, one of which is to accept what you did as all is ok, one to try again and another to give up entirely.

Hopefully the freeloader installer or game worked fine and your select the first option, at which point you'll be invited to send some temporary files containing the compatibility setting you'd used to get the program to work.

Using the wizard you can also manually change the setting of an existing freeloader game you have installed. Locate the program file, right-click on it, select Properties from the pop-up menu and then click on the Compatibly tab. You'll find all the compatibly mode settings in there including the option to choose the OS program will think its running under.
